On Internet there exists another way to meet people & share information. One of such way is through Usenet newsgroups. These are special groups established through people who want to share common interests ranging from current topics to cultural heritages. Currently these are thousands of Usenet newsgroups.

The Usenet can be assumed as another global network of computers & people that is interwined with the Internet. Though, Usenet does not interactively operate such as the Internet, rather than Usenet machines store the messages sent through users. Unlike mail from mailing lists, the news articles do not fill your electronic mailbox automatically. For accessing the information on newsnet, one desired a special kind of program called a newsreader. This program helps in retrieving the news only you wish from Usenet storage site and display it on your terminal. Usenet is such as living thing, New newsgroups gets added, the groups that have too much traffic get broken up in smaller specialized groups, even the groups can dissolve themselves. Though, all this occurs depend on some commonly accepted rules and by voting. For Usenet, there is no any enforcement body; it entirely depends on the cooperation of its computers owners and users.

The newsgroups are meant for interaction of people really who share your interests. You can post your own questions with your answers to the questions of others, on the Usenet. One thing that is worth mentioning here is that while one is interacting with people on Internet certain mannerism must be adopted. These rules are sometimes called  as "netiquette". In a face-to-face discussion you can always see a person's facial gestures and hand movements & can ascertain whether he is teasing or he is being sarcastic or sometimes even lying. Though, in on-line interaction one cannot see the person one is interacting with. The rules of netiquette can help to compensate some limitations of this on-line environment.
