A database has been designed for this beauty parlour in order for the staff to manage specific things such as bookings made by clients, payments, staff availability, level of experience, services provided, and the venues in which these services are provided.

All staff have their details included in the database including their first name, last name, phone, mobile, email, availability and experience. The ER diagram demonstrates a staff members availability by determining what days of the week they work. Also, the experience is determined by levels from 3 to 1 (3 the highest, 1 the lowest) and this is demonstrated in the ER diagram.

Regular clients have their details kept in the system which include their first name, last name, phone, mobile and email. This allows for easy bookings and payments as their details are already saved in the system. Non regular clients may also make a booking for a treatment depending on availability.

Services provided by the staff are divided into item based and time based beauty care/treatments. Time based treatments are charged per half hour or hour which is then multiplied by the staffs' level of expertise in the service. On the other hand, item based services are charged at a constant fixed price.

Bookings can be made at various beauty parlour venues in which the therapists work, this will make it efficient for the staff and clients as they can be serviced in areas which are suitable for them.

Payments can be processed by cash or credit/debit card only and this is depicted in the ER diagram.

The ER diagram also shows how the prices for all services are all in the database and can be matched to each booking/appointment. The ER diagram can also show all the available therapist's, and all appointments made on a day because all the relevant information needed is in the database.

All of the above information is demonstrated in the database, as well as the ER diagram in further detail and this makes it easy to demonstrate how the database is to be set out in order to support the management of the beauty parlour.
