Ask Computer Network & Security Expert

You have been hired as an IT Consultant to assist the Good Nature food market with designing and implementing a new network. They've hired you to determine what kind of network they need and to install the network. They want to know if there are times of the day when they are regularly busier than others. Some of the current business and operations matters are listed below.

•The Good Nature food market currently has 4 computers at its store. They are all PC's running Window's XP.
•They have a business plan created when they started their store.
•Thier market analysis indicated that they would be able to add 5 additional stores in the city where they're located.
•They plan to open one of the new stores soon.
•No one on their staff is especially computer savvy.
•You've found that they have a weekly cycle when they order the stock for their store and when they receive.
•As they grow, they will need to use their computer system to communicate among the stores.
•They plan to start a Web site.

problems for you, as the consultant, to address:

•What kind network model would you recommend and why? At a minimum you need to address the network topology, NOS, type of transmission media for LANs and for connecting the different stores as the business expands.
•How will you determine if there are times when the network has more traffic than others? You look around their current location and ask them about conditions at their new location. What will you be looking for and asking about regarding the setting for the network?
•You also need to know how many workstations they expect to have at the new location and if they will be adding workstations at their current location. What impact will the total number of nodes, their location, and the network's surroundings have on the equipment you recommend and the manner in which you connect the nodes?
•What media will you use to connect the stores as Good Nature adds new locations?
•Why will knowing the frame type be important when you set up the system?
•Describe the role of each layer of the OSI when an employee of Good Nature opens a Web page. Include specific protocols when possible. Include the functions of the sub layers of the second layer. Also include how error checking is done and at what layer of the OSI model.
•Draw a diagram of the way data is transformed as it goes through the OSI stack.
