Topic: Network monitoring and analysis

Monitoring and analysis is an important part of fault and performance management in LANs and other networks. Discuss the conditions that can adversely affect network performance, and the current tools (software and hardware) as well as procedures that are available to network managers for monitoring and analysis of LANs, interconnected LANs, and other networks.

1. In communities in which you are familiar, whether you are living in the place where you grew up or in a different community at the present time, what issues do you see around you that could be alleviated by the idea to "think globally, act locally"?
What is the local issue and how does it relate to global issues? On a global level, explain what actors create/perpetuate the issue, if applicable, or conversely what actors work to address the issue and how?
