Introduction

This is the second assignment of the module and represents 30% of the total assessment for the module; the remaining 40% of the assessment will be covered by a further assignment. This is an individual assignment.

Tasks

- You are to design a proposed network for the following scenario.
- Produce a working Packet Tracer Model of your design.
- Advise the company on the hardware, cabling and protocols to be used for the proposed network.
- Cost is not a driving factor to for your design. However, you are to include costs of all hardware and cabling in your report to the company (this can be displayed in tables where applicable).

The company you work for (Digital Design Solutions LTD) has purchased the adjoining office unit next to their existing unit in order to expand the company having made a successful move into eCommerce that has seen company sales grow exponentially due to a successful marketing campaign (selling online branded corporate print media, posters and canvases).

The company therefore needs to move some of their existing office structure into the new unit in order to accommodate a planned expansion of the company packing and despatch facilities in the existing building to meet current business demand.

The new unit is of modern design with a steel and concrete construct. There are power and amenities conduits between the two floors of the building.

Ground Floor:

- IT Department: 2 x Desktop PC's, 1 x Laptop (connected wirelessly), 1 x Low volume Printer.

- Hub/Server Room: File and Print Server, Web Development Server/Company Intranet (the intranet server must display a company branded test page). Secure FTP server .

- Print Facility: 4 x Desktop PC's, 5 x Large Format Plotters, 2x High Volume A3 Mono Laser Printers, 4 x High Volume Colour Laser Printers.

1st Floor:

- Web Design / eCommerce: 4 x Desktop PC's.

- Accounts: 5 x Desktop PC's, 2 x Low Volume Printer, secured network away from other departments.

- Human Resources: 2 x Desktop PC's access to printers in the Accounts department.

- Marketing: 3 x Desktop PC's, 2 x Apple iMac, Access to two of the Colour Lasers in the Print Facility.
