The business can be Australian or International, and should have a Web presence. exs of relevant businesses include; Facebook, Alibaba, IBM, e-Bay etc. Each team nominates three different businesses to the lecturer or tutor, and then the lecturer or tutor will decide the business after discussing with the team. 

The report should cover the following areas of IT Management in relation to the business selected. 

·         Digital Economy and management of IT:

­    business characteristics;

­    business pressures;

­    relevant or potential new technologies. 

·         E-Business and online social networks services

­    E-commerce management

­    Impacts of online social networks on the business

­    Combining e-business and online social networks 

·         Enterprise systems:

­    managing the supply chain;

­    software integration;

­    enterprise resource planning;

­    partner relationship management. 

·         IT planning and processes;

­    approach to IT planning;

­    methodology adopted in IT strategy and planning; 

·         Business Intelligence and Decision Supported Systems (DSS)

­    Intelligent methods used;

­    How the company used DSS in digital economy; 

Each team is expected to present their report findings to as part of the “Team Report Presentation” assessment task during week 11. 

Reference should be made to the underpinning of IT management theories and their relevance to the business selected. Where an area of IT Management is unable to be established, students should recommend suggested or probable strategies based on theories and practises adopted by similar organisations. This should be clearly illustrated and supported by relevant references.
