The latest entry into the snack food industry is a health-conscious offering named Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders. Each box mixes several flavors, such as ranch, cheddar, and salsa. The snack is designed to appeal to kids based on the snack shapes; however, the company hopes to appeal to adults as well, based on taste, variety, and ingredients. Maye Hanley, the senior marketing manager, has hired you to create a Web Site that promotes Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders. She previously gave you some promotional copy that you incorporated into a basic Web page; she now wants you to create an attractive layout for the page.

  1. Create the tags for an embedded style sheet. Within these tags, format the body element with the text color, font, color, and background color of your choice.

  2. Place a liquid layout for the hooks.htm file. The layout should have elements for a header, an aside, a main section, and a footer. Use the hookslogo.gif image in the header. Include margins and padding as appropriate in your layout.

  3. Create styles for all id selectors and all other selectors.

  4. In the body section, create sections as necessary. Apply the id selectors to your sections as appropriate.

  5. Create a container for your layout. Create styles for the container section so the page is centered horizontally, with rounded corners in the browser.

  6. Include at least one descendent selector.

  7. Feel free to add other images and text content (as appropriate) to the Web page.

  8. Save the hooks.htm file. Switch to your browser, and then refresh or reload the page. Verify all styles work correctly.

  9. Open your browser, and then go to http://validator.w3.org. Use the Validate by File Upload method to check the hooks.htm document and ensure the HTML code is correct. If necessary, correct any errors detected by the validation.

  10. In your browser, go to http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator. Use the By file upload method to check the hooks.htm file and ensure that the CSS code is correct. If necessary, correct any error detected by the validation.

Kids Love the Shapes; Grown Ups Love the Taste

Introducing the first snack food that everyone can enjoy: new Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders. Yes, Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders is a snack with everyone's good health in mind. Let's start by leaving out the preservatives. Some snack foods have the shelf life of plutonium — not so with Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders. All of our varieties of Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders come in snack-sized pouches that are flavored-sealed for freshness and taste. Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders snacks are baked, not fried. There are no saturated fats in our snacks. We also hold the line on salt with low-salt and no-added-salt varieties. We also use sea salt, rather than table salt, which adds both flavor and nutrition.

We don't hold back the flavor, though. We pair up ranch hooks with salsa ladders. We also toss in a variety of hooks, which are either corn, wheat or rice crackers, depending on the flavor you buy. It's fun to play with our snacks, but we think you'll spend most of your time eating the many varieties of Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders. Try our latest taste adventure — veggie hooks and ladders. We use our homegrown potatoes and other vegetables to come up with a flavor that is as taste tempting as it is unique.

Look for our prize surprise packages. Every box of Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders comes with a secret surprise. You may win a coupon for your next purchase of Hooks, Wheels, and Ladders or you may win an all-expenses-paid trip to go on one of our fabulous European or Caribbean holidays. You and your choice of up to three guests will stay at a fabulous four-star hotel. You'll be our guests for up to seven days and six nights.
