c)Pretend that you are playing mitochondrial CSI. You find that the mitochondria has been poisoned and it smells distincly of almonds... Cyanide! Cyanide (CN-) poisons the electron transport chain by interfering with cytochrome C oxidase. Explain what happends to the mitochondria when Cytochrome C oxidase is no longer able to function. (Hint: does it still form a prton gradient? why/how? Can it still make ATP? why/how?)
