Two ammeters are put in parallel, and used to measure an unknown current. The unknown current is determined by adding the readings of the two ammeters. Ammeter #1 can read a maximum current of 50[A], and has a meter resistance of 2.35ohms. Ammeter #2 can read a maximum current of 20[A] and has a meter resistance of 1.45ohms.

a) What is the largest current that can be measured in this way, by adding the readings of the two ammeters?

b)Assume that a resistor of 4.75ohms is now placed in series with ammeter #2, and that series combination is placed in parallel with Ammeter #1. What is the largest current that can be measured in this way, by adding the readings of the two ammeters?

c) Assume now that the resistor of 4.75ohms is removed and the two ammeters are placed in parallel again. Assume that the ammeters are such that they cannot be damaged, even if a current larger than their full-scale reading passes through them. What is the largest current that can be measured, knowing the meter resistance of each meter and using the reading on one of the meters?
