Topic: Elastic Behaviour of materials

Objective:

To find the Elastic Modulus' of two beams using a load vs deflection graph.

To compare the experiment result and the theoretical result

Details:

I want a specific layout:

(1) Abstract -Write a sentence to indicate the subjects dealt with in the paper and state the objectives of the investigation. [1]

Include a sentence to indicate what the methods used to obtain results were. This should not be very detailed, it should only contain a brief outline of what was done, highlighting critical steps.

Give a sentence or two summarising the key observations and findings of the experiment.

The final sentence of the abstract should state your conclusions both in relation to your findings and observations.

The past passive should be used.

Introduciton

Start with a general statement relating to the topic under investigation. General Statement

Give information on the specific laws of physics/ scientific theory that relate to the experiment. Specific Focus

Present and describe relevant equations.

Give background information on how the laws/ theory was discovered, or developed and by whom (cite references). Background

State practical applications. Practical Apps

State the aim and objectives of the current study. Aim Materials and Method-

Include a diagram of the equipment

Describe the materials needed for the experiment

Explain how you did the experiment

I want the results to be placed after the ''materials and method'' however the appendix calculations right at the very end.

GRAPH:

Clearly label the graph with a number Graph.1, Graph.2, etc.

Give the graph a caption (a brief title).

Label the graph axes and state the units used/ quantity (if necessary).

Include error bars for data points.

Include a line of best fit and min & max gradients. Include a coloured key/ legend too.

Include the equation for the line of best fit (straight line equation).

TABLE:

Ensure the units (if necessary) are given in each column heading; not next to data points.

- Arrange data for each column heading vertically rather than horizontally.

- Give the table a caption (a brief title). This should go above the table.

- Insert a cross-reference in the other sections of the report, to guide the reader to the appropriate part of the appendices.

Discussion:

- State your most important finding.

- Explain if your results support the theory/original hypothesis. Link to hypothesis
- Describe any interesting observations and explain why these may have occurred.

Observations & Explanation

- Describe trends in graph, state whether there is correlation, or if there are anomalous results, errors, or any deviations to what was expected. Specific data/detail

- Explain why the above may have occurred.

- State how the experiment could be improved.

Key finding
- Make suggestions for how the experiment could be extended.
- Relate any of the above points to findings from academic sources (remember to reference).

Conclusion:
- Summarise the aim of the experiment.
- Summarise the major finding(s) and whether the objectives of the experiment were met.
- If error occurred, summarise what this error was and how much impact it had on the final outcome.
