e. The physician orders 100 mg of a medication IM  (intramuscular). On hand you have 50 mg/ mL. How many milliliters will you give?

f. The physician orders 50 mg of chlorpromazine HCl IM. On hand you have 25 mg/ mL. How many milliliters will you give?

g. The physician orders 12.5 mg of meperidine IM. On hand you have 25 mg/ mL. How many milliliters will you give?

h. The physician orders 10 mg of Procardia (nifedipine). On hand you have 10 mg capsules. How many capsules will you give?

i. The physician orders 50 mg of Tigan (trimethobenzamide HCl) IM. On hand you have 100 mg/ mL. See Figure 5- 3. How many milliliters will you give?

2. a. The physician ordered 500 mg (800,000 units) of a medication. On hand you have 250 mg (400,000 units). How many tablets will you give?

b. The physician ordered 500 units of heparin sodium subcutaneously. On hand you have 1,000 units/ mL. How many milliliters will you give?

c. The physician ordered a medication, 600,000 units for deep IM injection. The dose on hand is 1,200,000 units per 2 milliliters. How many milliliters will you administer to your patient?

1. Calculate the following dosages according to kilogram of body weight:

a. The physician orders cefadroxil (Duricef), 30 mg/ kg of body weight, for John Knight, who weighs 44 pounds. The dose is to be divided and given every 12 hours. How many milligrams will you give?

b. The physician orders codeine sulfate, 0.5 mg/ kg of body weight for pain. The patient weighs 50 pounds. The medication may be given every 4 to 6 hours. How many milligrams will the patient receive?
