The Project Aims and Objectives:

GSM network composed from different types of equipments included several elements and interfaces. Each part of GSM network developed by continues way to improve the services. The quality of services (QoS) will be affected if there is defect in any part of the GSM network. The aims of the project are investigate and evaluate the most physical problems of Core Network affected on the services provided by GSM network, especially voice call. Core Network main part of GSM, the main equipments for Core Network is MSC (Mobile Switching Centre), BSS (Base Station Subsystem) and MGW (Media Gate Way), these components connect each other "physically" inside exchange through specific mechanism which divide the physical connection to multi points, the project studying this mechanism to improve and minimize faults could be happened.

Project Outline:

As GSM network consider vey huge network especially if it is covered large area. For this reason there are many types of equipment and technologies are used from different companies to establish the GSM network. On the same time there are global standards follow by these companies to be applicable to for these equipments to communicate each others. We have to take into account various protocols and media are used in GSM network. So, the project will consistfrom the following parts in order:

1) GSM introduction with brief description for each main node of GSM network. Also, provide details for main GSM interfaces.

2) Describe media using between elements, including protocols involve on these connectivity.

3) Investigate and evaluate the most physical problems from life Core Network affected the quality of services especially issues affected on voice call service.

4) Search for the best solutions to prevent these physical problems to be happen or at least minimize it to very low level.

5) Evaluate the solutions and comparing the results before and after applying the solutions.

6) Conclusions.
