A 1K ohm potentiometer is used to measure the position of a shaft. The potentiometer is designed to rotate 330 degrees to give the full range of possible resistance. However, the actual measurement range that is used is only 165 degrees indicating positions of a liquid sensor float ranging from 0 to 10 cm (empty to full). A voltage of 12 Volts is placed across the potentiometer. Level is to be read with a meter movement that shows full scale deflection with 1 mA. The internal resistance of the meter is 100 Ohms. We want it to show exactly full scale deflection when the sensor is at 10 cm., and zero deflection when the sensor float is at 0 cm.
A. Show the circuit used to make the measurement, including all component values.
B. As you have designed it, is there a measurement error at full meter deflection? If so, how much error is there (give both an absolute number in appropriate units, and a percentage of full scale deflection)
C. What is the sensitivity of the sensor system?
