The phenomenology of illness and disease - As reviewed in "the called to care"

As per the Christian world view of Nursing, the physical environment has profound impact on the faith and the health. The seen environment part of the physical environment is everything that can be felt, weighed, measured, seen, heard, tasted and smelled. The technology and instruments extend human ability to investigate the microcosm and the macrocosm. The natural sciences do study the seen environment, however the power of god is believed to be shown in the seen environment. Seen environment has direct effect on the illness and the disease. God is believe to given responsibility to the humans to take care for and develop the seen environment. The natural world is assumed to give clues of the god. The natural world awaits release from the decay and the bondage when Christ returns to the earth. Unseen environment is the spiritual aspect of the creation. This is where the God dwells. Unseen environment is the place where we can find the God's law, the foundation of morality. Here are the things are eternal. A great number of the social causes of the illness and disease are stated to be spiritually rooted. Nursing like health care systems can able to deal with the symptoms and can have some success however the root of the problems are believed to lie somewhere else outside the world controlled by the science. Nursing is essentially advised to be considered as a spiritual battle with the evil. Spiritual weapons like truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, scripture and prayer are essentially considered as tools of battle. Nurses who treat the illness and disease by treating others with dignity and respect are considered blessed. They are expected to treat the patients considering them as image of god. Hope is expected to provide sufficient strength to the people to let them not give up in the times of disappointment and disparity (Anderson,1995) (Schoenbeck,1994).
