You will write a formal scientific lab report based on your experiment - follow guidelines below. Write in complete, grammatically correct sentences. Readability will be evaluated for each section in addition to the accuracy and completeness of information.

Title Page

SEPARATE page which contains an original title, student name and date submitted. The rest of the report should contain the following section headings.

Introduction

This introduces what you are researching and why. Give a concise background on what you are studying. What was your hypothesis? Is than scientific literature on the subject being studied? Present brief background information.

Materials and Methods

Discuss precisely what you did; someone should be able to replicate (duplicate) your exact experiment. Describe how, when, and under what conditions you collected your numerical data. Describe the equipment and methods used to collect data.

Results

Present your data in an organized way. This can be a combination of text, tables, figures or statistics.

Discussion and Conclusions

This is where you analyze the results to determine whether the hypothesis posed was supported or not. Tell why your results were expected or unexpected. Were there any problems with measurements that could have affected results in your experiment? If so, explain. State your final interpretation of the data you collected. The interpretation of what you have found through your experiment and observations needs to be clearly stated.
