Term paper guidelines:

The term paper should address the following problem:

Describe and analyze the architecture of a selected system in terms of class concepts presented in lectures. Your analysis should discuss how the architecting process led to the architecture. The architecting process should address, to the extent possible, the architecture and key tradeoffs, the steps taken, the questions asked, the people involved, the options generated, the decisions made, the techniques used, and the heuristics applied. The analysis of the system should also include a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the characteristics, benefits, and limitations of the selected system as a result of the aforementioned activities.

LENGTH: The term paper should be between 10 to 12 pages (excluding references and appendices), single column, single-spaced, 12-point.

Research on urban rail transit system architecting

Exemplify with San Francisco

Extended Abstract

Urban rail transit is a way of transportation with the characteristics of large capacity, high speed, safe, on time, environment protecting, save energy and land etc., hereinafter referred to as "rail", including the subway and high-speed rail, light rail, tram, etc., it is one of the largest public infrastructure in the process of urban construction, has produced profound influence on the global development of cities.

The construction of urban rail transit can drive the development of cities along the rail transit contour, promote urban prosperity, forming suburban satellite cities and several deputy center, so as to relieve the strain on the densely populated city center, housing, small green area, severe air pollution in cities.

The subway as the pioneer of urban rail transit, the one-way capacity in 30000 people/hour, up to 60000 ~ 80000 / hour. Top speed of 120 km/h, traveling speed can reach more than 40 km/h, and 4 ~ 10 as a group, vehicle minimum interval can be less than 1.5 min. As the scale of rail transit and rail transit in the expansion of the proportion of public transport, many big cities have entered network rail transit development model, rail transit operation management and great changes have taken place.

In this paper, the research significance is mainly developing from the current situation of the development of rail transit network, a detailed description of city rail transit system is presented. By looking for multiple documents, this article describes the rail transit system from the following several aspects: The relationship between the development of urban space and the rail transit; the development of urban rail transit lines and operation mode; public safety standards of the rail transit construction; the importance of rail transit lines connecting with comprehensive transportation hub; the evolution course and the growth curve of urban rail transit network; rail transit investment policy and industry management mode; and analysis of the rail transit passenger flow status from the Angle of network operations.

The article also introduces big cities' rail transit system like London, Paris, Tokyo, New York and Seoul's rail transit development situation, and reflects the current situation of the architecting of the rail transit system. Then describe San Francisco's rail transit architecting system in detail.

Predictably, whatever the form of rail transit network is not likely to unlimited expansion, therefore, for analyzing the characteristics of passenger flow, grasp the direction of prediction, the rail transit network operation management has important practical significance.
