CLINICAL HISTORY:- Sarah, a 20 year old female premed student is rushed into the emergency room with complaints of fainting, seizures, fever, a headache and weakness. She had been preparing for her exams for 2 weeks now and this morning decided to go for a run by 11am to keep herself awake and alert. On leaving her run, she forgot to take a bottle of water and soon found out that it was warm and humid outside. She started sweating profusely and the next thing she remembers is some stranger pouring water on her face and suddenly finding herself in the hospital. "Doc, she says, "I forgot to drink."

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND OTHER DATA:- On examination, the doctor found that her temperature was 105 F, blood pressure was 100/50mmHg, pulse was 90 beats per minute (normal 75) and respiration was 25 breaths per minute (normal 12), her skin was dry and slightly wrinkled.

CLINICAL COURSE: The doctor placed her on intravenous normal saline and mandated rest for 1 week. She was given acetaminophen for the headaches, and discharged home.

1. What is the correlation between the body temperature and the loss of fluid(sweating). And why does Sarah have a fever?

2. Why did her blood pressure fall?
