a) A 10kW, 400V, 50Hz, 4 pole, three phase induction motor runs at a power factor of 0.78 lagging and has a mechanical loss of 500W. The stator losses are 400W. The motor runs at a speed of 1440 rev/min.

i) Calculate Rotor power loss
ii) Calculate the motor Efficiency
iii) Estimate the stator current if the torque on the shaft doubles.

QUESTION THREE

A 200V, shunt connected DC motor has a field resistance of 350Ω and an armature resistance of 1.2Ω. The machine consumes 7A and runs at 1000 rev/min and delivers power to a 800W to a water pump.
Calculate
i) Generated back Emf.
ii) The Efficiency of the motor/pump combination.
iii) Mechanical loss
iii) Torque upon the shaft.
