Question 1: What are the properties of DNA fragment ends that make two fragments compatible for ligation?

Question 2: Why is it a rarer occurrence that two DNA fragments are simultaneously ligated into a single vector than that one DNA fragment is ligated into the vector? Remember that the successful introduction of a single DNA fragment into a vector is rare in itself.
