Question 1: If you cleave a phospholipid bilayer with a laser, creating a tear the thickness of about 100-300 phospholipids. Which would you expect (maybe more than 1). Briefly explain.

a. The exposed "cut" end will create a partial monolayer for each exposed end.

b. The 2 layers separate and float away in a physiologically balanceed solution.

c. The exposed "cut" ends will fuse forming inside our and outside in bilayers.

d. 2 micells formed .

Question 2: Ion transporters are linked together (not physically) but as a result of their actions. For example, the consequnce of increased cytoplasmic H+ is an efflux of H+ out and Na+ in. How hard is it for both transporters to work together to manage pH and Na+ control? Explain.
