In genetics lab this semester we characterized Lac- mutants. These mutants were created via exposure to UV light or Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS).

Required:

Question 1; Compare and contrast these two mutation methods. What types of mutations do they cause?

Question 2: What are the types of repair mechanism that are in place to deal with these types of mutations? How does the repair mechanism(s) work?

Question 3: If you wanted to induce more deleterious mutations, what mutagen would you use? Defend your answer including the mechanism of action for this mutagen.
