Problem: A pair cams work together to create the motion required for a pick-and-place device. The cams create a box-type motion where a gripper (or other tool) is lifted, moved outward, lowered, dwelled slightly, lifted again, moved inward, lowered again, dwelled again slightly, and repeated.

Design the two cams according to the following specification using a spreadsheet:

Cam A:

1. Rise 2 inches in 0.6 seconds using cycloidal motion.

2. Dwell for 0.5 seconds

3. Fall 2 inches in 0.7 seconds using motion

4. Dwell for 0.2 seconds

5. Rise 2 inches in 0.6 seconds using cycloidal motion

6. Dwell for 0.5 seconds

7. Fall 2 inches in 0.7 seconds using cycloidal motion

8. Dwell for 0.2 seconds

Cam B (follower position starts 1 inch above the base height):

1. Rise 2 inches in 0.6 seconds using cycloidal motion.

2. Fall 1 inch in 0.5 seconds using constant acceleration.

3. Fall 2 inches in 0.7 seconds using cycloidal motion.

4. Dwell for 0.2 seconds.

5. Rise 2 inches in 06 seconds using constant motion.

6. Rise 1 inch in 0.5 seconds using constant velocity.

7. Fall 2 inches in 0.7 seconds using cycloidal motion

8. Dwell for 0.2 seconds

Create separate follower displacement diagrams and cam profile graphs for each cam assuming a knife edge follower and base radius of 4 inches for each. Include a calculation for the cam angular velocity in your spreadsheet. Select an appropriate time interval for your values to create smooth and reasonably accurate graphs.
