Problem 1: An object is launched from the ground with an initial velocity of 30 mis as shown below. Determine: a) the flight time before the object strikes the wall. b) the height of the object as it strikes the wall. and c) if the object is on the upward or downward portion of the flight (hint: check the y-velocity direction) as it strikes the wall. You can neglect air resistance.

Problem 2:  In the system shown below Block A has a mass of 15kg and Block B has mass 5k2. It is measured that the tension in the cable is 40N. Determine the acceleration of Block A and the coefficient of kinetic friction between Block A and the ground (neglect the mass of the pulley and cable).

Problem 3: A force of 250N is applied to the wheel (at the center) as shown. The wheel has a radius of 45cm, a mass of 4k . and a moment of inertia (about the mass center) of 30k -m2. Determine (a) the acceleration of the mass center and (b) the rotational acceleration of the wheel (assuming the wheel rolls without slipping).

Problem 4: Determine the location of the instant center of bar BD (show the location on a sketch of the system and submit it along with your work). If the velocity of point B is known to be 15inis (to the right), determine (a) the angular velocity of bar BD (note whether it is CW or CCW) and (b) the velocity of point D.

Problem 5: A classic roller coaster is designed as shown below. The coaster cars are lifted up the initial hill. which has a height of 85 feet, and released at the top of the hill with a speed of 5 Ills. The track has a running length of 4200 feet. A fully loaded car has a weight of 4500 lb and friction/wind resistance impose an average force of 62. lb on the coaster car throughout the ride. (a) Deteimine the speed of the coaster car as it completes the run (back at ground level after traveling the entire track length). (b) A magnetic brake system is used to slow the car to a speed of 2.5 ftis at the end of the ride. If this brake applies a force of 14001bs, what length of track is required for the braking system to  accomplish this task?
