PRACTICE OF SCIENCE ASSIGNMENT -

Scenario - This assignment uses three data sets from the Australasian Data and Story Library. For your assignment you should only use the cleaned data sets provided for you in the Assignment section on the LMS.

For each question, in addition to your summary you should write an additional paragraph about whether the assumptions of this test were met. You do not need to provide additional output, just a description of what assumptions you checked and whether they were met or not.

Question 1. The samara.sav dataset contains the loading and velocity of the small winged fruit known as samara falling from three different maple trees. Conduct appropriate tests to compare the average load (a measure based on size and weight) of samara fruit between trees.

Question 2. The ms212.sav dataset contains health information about a sample of University of Queensland students. At the time the smoking rate for the general population was 20%. Perform an appropriate test to determine whether University of Queensland students have a smoking rate of 20%.

Question 3. Still using the ms212.sav dataset, perform an appropriate test to examine whether alcohol consumption is independent of gender.

Question 4. The physical.sav dataset contains the dimensions of a sample of 22 male subjects aged 16 to 30. Conduct an appropriate test to model mass using waist size. Include an appropriate graph.

Question 5. Still using the physical.sav dataset, conduct an appropriate test to model mass using waist, height, and forearm circumference.
