Part 1:

• System input: 2 Hz signal data + 60 Hz interference + random noise
System sampling rate: 6 kHz
Peak amplitude of the 2 Hz and 60 Hz samples: 1
Random noise: Gaussian noise samples

• System requirements:
(a) eliminate the interference
(b) reduce the random noise
(c) recover the samples of the signal

1. Display the time waveforms. Make sure the waveforms can be clearly seen and the axes are correctly labeled.
2. Calculate and display the RMS value of the 2 Hz signal and the recovered signal.

Part 2:

Determine the spectrum of the following waveforms

(1) System input

(2) System output

Exercises:

Display the spectra. Clearly label the plots and the axes.

Capture the display of the spectra for the frequencies in the range 0 Hz to 10 Hz.
(Extra credit) Estimate the average dB level of the noise waveform in this range.

Demonstration:

The working model must be demonstrated to the teaching staff on Tue., 10/29/13 during the class. There will be no credit for the project if this step is overlooked.
