Parasite and host during incubation period

Incubation period is the second stage in the process of a disease.
It is the time between the day of infection to the appearance of disease symptoms.
The number of pathogens entering the host may not be sufficient to produce a disease.
They divide and multiply very rapidly and increase in numbers.
The parasite selects the tissue where it gets protection from the host defence system.
The incubation period varies from a few days to a few years.
The incubation period in malaria is 10-15 days, African sleeping sickness is 20-25 years.
