3. Explain, specifically, how technology solutions in the health care industry can improve patient quality of care and patient safety, and aid in making financial management decisions.
4. For what purposes can EHR data be used, other than for supporting health care delivery for an individual patient?
5. Describe several legal and ethical issues that are related to the use and evaluation of health information systems, including training, security, confidentiality, and the use of informed consent.
6. OPINION QUESTION: Should government agencies mandate the capabilities of EHR systems - or - should capabilities be driven by system developer and adopter initiatives (that is, the free market of supply and demand)? Provide specific examples to support your opinion.
7. How can a health care organization assess the value of adopting an EHR system? Describe criteria, methods, goals, and potential risk factors in determining value.
