In around 1200 to 1400 words document, write down a paper in which you have to write a report on 'Running Oscilloscope on a PC'.

Introduction:

Technology runs almost all the aspects of business today. Every sector of today’s economy, be it nationally or internally, depends on technology. Maritime businesses are especially conscious with technology due to the sensitive environment that they are run. To this effect, it has become a necessary step for companies to employ Electro-technical officers in every vessel to oversee their automatic electric circuits that have replaced conventional electric systems of the past. Among these electric systems are Oscilloscopes. Oscilloscopes are electronic test instruments that project voltage signals for Electro-technical officers to use in a vessel.

Whereas the importance of these new personnel cannot be over looked, most companies have come to realize that these officers are an added operation cost. This has seen a number of them forego this extra baggage.

The danger that comes with this omission is worrying enough, hence the need to come up with low cost equipment to aid Electro-technical officer. Using personal computers (PC’S) as oscillators is one of the measures that cut on the said costs. This is especially true given the fact that industrial oscilloscopes are quite expensive. Additionally, the use of a PC as an oscilloscope adds on a company’s efficiency too. The catch here is that personal computers can be slightly modified to function as an oscillator with little cost. This brings us to the conventional way of converting a PC into an oscilloscope.

The report must comprise the following points in a detailed manner:

1) The necessary components

2) Labelled diagram

3) Step by step guide on how PC works as an oscilloscope

4) Specifications of the instruments

5) PC Software

6) Mechanical setup guide

7) How the PC will function as an oscilloscope

8) Limitations of using a PC as an oscilloscope
