Question: In a Mendel assignemnt, I was given the F2 generation of ear corns yellow-plump, yellow-shrunken, purple-plum, and purple-shrunken with a phenotype ratio of 9:3:3:1. The question is what is the pheontype for F1, and my answer was F1 generation would be heterozygous for both characteristics and would be yellow and plump (YyPp). Now, the question that I am having trouble is explain why you can be more certain of the phenotypes of the F1 generation than you can be of those of the P generation?
