Problem: Radiometric dating (often called radioactive dating) is a technique used to date materials such as rocks, usually based on a comparison between the observed abundance of a naturally occurring radioactive isotope and its decay products, using known decay rates. Geologists have utilized radiometric dating for some time now. Geologists have long been aware of the age and pattern of life's "family tree". That is, geologists understand the processes of evolutionary change from the data they collect from the ages of the rocks they find. Nonetheless, geologists are not the subject of passionate protests in the same way that biologists are.
