Finding peak amplitude, frequency, and spectrum shape
b. A signal generator outputs a unipolar square wave with a period of 0.50 ms and an amplitude of 2.0 V. The output of the generator is passed through an ideal band pass filter that has a pass band from 1 kHz to 9.0 kHz. List the peak amplitude (in volts) and frequency (in kHz) of each wave that is present at the filter output.
c. The signal generator output in part (b) is changed to a rectangular pulse train in which the period is still 0.50 ms but the pulse length is 0.125 ms. What frequencies would be present at the filter output now?
d. The waveform output by the signal generator in part (c) is changed so that the rectangular pulses have the same width but are no longer periodic. The pulses occur at random intervals of time. What would be the shape of the spectrum displayed on the screen of a spectrum analyzer connected to the filter output? Are there any frequencies at which the spectrum has a value of zero? If so, list those frequencies.
