Explain the Determination of Vitamin E

DL-α-Tocopherol is oxidized with ferric chloride and the ferrous ions formed are measured colorimetrially with the aid of α,α'-dipyridyl (bright red colour).

Applications

DL-α-Tocopherol is mainly used as an antioxidant in stabilizing edible oils and fats and fat-containing food commodities, pharmaceutical preparations and cosmetics.
