Hand Stand Push-Up
You are given the following information:
•The man is 100 kg
•The COM is 30 cm to the left of his hand (in the x direction) and 70 cm above the ground (in the y direction)
•His forearm weighs 25 N with a COM 8 cm to the left of the elbow (in the x direction) and 16.14 cm above the ground (in the y direction)
•When considering the weight of the body (600 N) minus the weight of the forearm (20 N), the COM shifts to 27 cm to the left of the hand position (in the x direction) and 73 cm above the ground (in the y direction)
•His arm is bent 120° between the upper arm and forearm (60° from the horizontal on either side of the elbow joint)
•The triceps acts parallel to the upper arm
•The distance from the ground to the elbow joint is 30 cm in the y direction
•The distance from the elbow joint to the triceps insertion on the olecranon is 1 cm in the x direction
Determine the left triceps muscle force (Ftri), elbow joint reaction force (Rj) required to hold this position along with any ground reaction forces (Rg) and/or reaction moments (Mg) in the hand. Show all necessary free body diagrams along with the equations of static equilibrium.
