Rectangular plate has two holes of dimensions shown in the above figure and is released from the position shown. Plate is hinged about the horizontal axis and could rotate in the vertical plane. The external moment of magnitude 110 N-m is applied in the counter clockwise direction as shown. A frictional moment of magnitude 10 N-m resists the rotation. The specific weight of the material is 250 lbs / ft3. Assume uniform density.

(a) Compute the mass moment of inertia of the plate about the axis of rotation

(b) Determine the moment created by the weight of the plate about the axis of rotation

(c) Determine the angular acceleration of the plate at the instant it is released.

(d) What is the angular acceleration if the plate was rotating in horizontal plane?
