Describe in detail a bad decision that you made at work in the past, or any work-related decision that you wish you could "do over." Be sure to indicate your career field, as you describe this decision. Analyze that bad decision using Steps 1-7 of the Ladder of Inference (see page153 in your textbook). At which step of the Ladder of Inference did your decision-making begin to become faulty? (In other words, at which stage did your decision begin to show signs of a bad decision?)

***NOTE***

For help with the post below is Step 1-7 of the Ladder of Influence

The Ladder of Inference (Hunt & Weintraub, 2011, p. 153).

Step 7. I take actions based on my beliefs. = I worked very hard, study, and promoted at the first opportunity.

Step 6. I adopt beliefs about the world. = If you study hard, you will instantaneously become better prepared to promote and be inherently able to handle the challenges of that new responsibility.

Step 5. I draw conclusions. = My conclusion is that if I do promote, I will be happy and have few set-backs.

Step 4. I make assumptions based on the meaning that I added. = I assume I can also promote, make more money, and will no longer be the least ranking member at my station.

Step 3. I add meaning to what I see (cultural and personal). = People who promote are obviously getting paid more money, and they are no longer "at the bottom of the totem pole."

Step 2. I select data from what I observe. = I notice my peers promoting to the next rank.

Step 1. I observe data and events. = I can promote if I study really hard and after two years at my current position.
