Question: Consider about what was discussed in the reading assignment in terms of media components and environmental factors, and develop hypotheses about what types of bacteria you expect to find after plating soil samples on each media type (RDM, R2A, ISP4, N2-BAP, and VXylA) and incubating the plates under the environmental conditions specified for the experiments in Unit 2. Hint: consider aerobic versus anaerobic growth, long versus short incubation times, various dilutions plated, with and without ambient light, temperature, etc. For example, do you anticipate finding microorganisms that produce antibiotics, fix nitrogen, or break down cellulose?
