Clotting Disorder - Haemophilia

Haemophilia  is a congenital  blood clotting  disorder caused by the genetic lack/ deficiency of  coagulation factor VIII or antihaemophiliac  factor and factor IX or christmas factor. Haemophilia due to factor VIIT deficiency is also called as Haemophilia A or (classic haemophilia) and that due to facto IX deficiency is called haemphilia B or (christmas disease). 

Haemophilia A and B are inherited as sex linked recessive traits and is manifested in males only. The females carry the hemophiliac trait. Haemophilia  is-most frequently  inherited by the union of unaffected male and a carrier famale. A haemophiliac male and normal famale produce normal male children and female children who carry the trait. '  

Classification of Haemophilia 

Haemophilia can be classified into mild, moderate and severe haemophilia depending on  level of  factor VIII or IX.
