Cardiovascular Disease Infographic Lab

Do some research on a cardiovascular disease and create an infographic that conveys the results of your research in an organized and comprehensive manner.

I encourage you to google images for "_____ disease infographic".

Find a multitude of them to peruse. To create your own, use Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, or a similar publishing software that will help you post diagrams, figures or whatever you find necessary to convey the message. I do not expect you to create professional quality designs, but I do expect you to be creative and come up with your own design that does not copy or borrow explicitly from any of the sources or infographics you view. Hand drawn work will not be accepted.

If you're having trouble imagining an infographic, think of the flyers you see on the bulletin board in a workplace, public places, or even the doctor's office. They catch your attention because of the pictures and/or diagrams, and are easy to read. They highlight key details with bold print and bullets, have arrows and starburst captions that point out relationships between pieces of information. When you read it, you are able to quickly identify the topic, learn some important facts and figures about it, understand its importance and relevance to you, and direct you to resources and solutions to learn more about it and possibly address it.

Please pay attention to the due date as I will not accept late work emailed to me and I cannot extend the posted due date. Click on the title "Lab #3" above to submit your work.

Guidelines:
1. Select a type of cardiovascular disease that you are interested in learning more about. See page 249 for a place to start. i was thinking (coronary heart disease)

2. Do some research that addresses/answers the following criteria for your infographic. Use reliable and appropriate sources, whether they are online or not, and be sure to document all of them.
a) What is the name of the disease? Give a general description of what it is, the symptoms, and the longterm outcome of the disease if untreated or not prevented.

b) What population group(s) is/are prone to the disease? Is there a reason for this (genetics, hereditary, ethnicity, geographic, socio-economic, age, gender, etc.)

c) What is/are the appropriate actions for treatment?

d) What can be done to prevent the disease?

e) What resources are available to the group(s) most at risk from the disease?

3. Create an infographic diagram that presents the results of your research in a way that:
i) is organized and easy to follow

ii) clearly and concisely addresses all the categories outlined above

iii) is attractive and easy for someone to read and be informed about what they should know and understand about the disease you choose

iv) fits on one page

Good luck with this lab and have fun! The objective is to present something you can share with friends or family who would benefit from the information you provide :)
