Calculate the dilution required to obtain a solution of a required final concentration from a stock solution.

You get a drug from the hospital pharmacy in a vial at a concentration of 50 mg/ml.

You needed to add it to a one liter saline drip so that the final concentration of the drug in the saline going into the patient is 1 mg/ml.

How much of the concentrated drug would you put in the one liter of saline before you administered it to the patient? Show how you figured this out, please!
