An experiment was done to determine which genes are likely involved in resistance to a new antibiotic. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria were grown on normal media (control group) and on media that had the new antibiotic (experimental group). A DNA microarray experiment was performed in which the control samples had a green fluorescent label and the experimental samples had a red fluorescent label. The results from the DNA Microarray are below.

(Each number 1-25 refers to a unique gene) the results of the microarray were: 2 & 24 RED 4,17,22 GREEN 1,13,14,21 NO COLOR All other numbers were YELLOW question: how might this information be used to design new antibiotics that are less vulnerable to resistance?
