You will be submerging yourself in World War II. The goal of this assignment is to research an aspect of World War II in which you have an interest that runs deeper than our survey of the society can satisfy. Immerse yourself in the material and allow your creativity to manifest. It is meant to prompt you to imagine what it would have been like to live during the war by engaging in more detailed research on a topic.

Task:

Write your paper as if you were a nurse, soldier, general, or some other person intimately experiencing the effects of the war. You can pretend you are German, Russia, American, British, Japanese, Korea, China for example. Write your research paper as an autobiography in which you describe your life (include data such as who you are, where you live, what you do, and how you live - if you are a man or a woman and how that shapes your life, your religion, and general experiences).

Process:

First step to completing this project is to visit the websites

Next, spend some time becoming familiar with the sites.

When you feel comfortable, begin to compile the information you find into an outline which you will use to craft your paper. Finally, compile all your data into your paper. Your research paper should include a great deal of data about what you see, who/what you know about, and experience. It should also include a time frame of when are you living and what you are experiencing) and location(s). Your paper should be a creative story or narrative of 5-7 or more pages in which you place important data about WWII.

Structure of your paper:

Your report should be 5 double spaced pages. Use 12 point font. Cite all web sites, book, and or articles you use in MLA, APA, or Chicago style. You may insert pictures, just be sure to cite them so I know where you got them. Failure to cite information will result in a 0. All papers are checked through Safe Assign for plagiarism.

Evaluation:

You will be evaluated based on a scale of 1-100. A 100-90 grade is an A. This means you have excelled in every area of the assignment. You visited all the links, paid careful attention to detail, provided context with analysis, and wrote a well thought out short paper that was grammatically as well as factually correct. An 80-89% grade indicates a very strong effort to demonstrate command of the assignment. A 70-79% grade means you put in the minimum effort to complete the assignment and your work is average but with room for improvement. A grade of 69 or below means you did not at all perform to expectations.

Conclusion:

At the completion of this assignment you will have learned all about a topic dealing with WWII You will have learned how to make connections between disparate facts, artifacts, and geography through time. In addition, you will have demonstrated your writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Hopefully, you will also have learned more through examining a topic of your choice.
