You should discuss the ways in which Western culture and therefore morale and values are popularized through globalization. You could also probably discuss the pressure that NGOs and the general public could exert by demanding equal treatment for women worldwide. Investments in developing countries give the West an extra leverage. Any particular evidence of an increase in equality as a consequence of globalization is more than welcome, especially from China, Brazil and countries that entered the EU since 1980. You could discuss historically the changes that occurred in the gender equality index as a result of globalization. The topic you are going to write on is going to be a part of an essay I am writing on a bit broader topic. You can find the introduction (and an outline) of that essay in the described content. Therefore, no introduction or conclusion are needed. You could also discuss the ways in which gender equality is promoted by workers (including women) that come from developing countries to work in industrialized states?

Is globalization an effective tool to fight poverty and to promote gender equality?

Happiness. Arguably, the ultimate goal of every person's existence. In regard to the insignificance of a person in relation to the extent of both the universe and time, I would argue that it is the purpose of one's existence as well. But in what ways can policy makers enable people to achieve it? There sure are many but in this essay I am going to focus on two of them - eradicating poverty, i.e., ensuring a minimum level of wellbeing in order for a person to meet her basic needs, and equality - of wealth distribution, but also of opportunity regardless of gender, race, nationality, religion, etcetera. In this essay I am going to argue that although globalization does indeed both reduce poverty and increase gender equality, its effectiveness in achieving these two Millennium development goals by itself is limited, and as with any other tool, its effectiveness depends on the way it is used. I will demonstrate that by examining several prominent case studies - those of China, Brazil, and the European Community's enlargement policy since the 1980s. I will do so by assessing the importance of the two largest financial flows towards the developing countries - Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and remittances, and their significant increase as a direct consequence of globalization. Furthermore, I will argue that globalization gives industrialized countries an extra leverage in terms of promoting the Western values and gender equality.
