College education is intended to equip students with appropriate skills towards the area of interest. As an Education Science major student from Southern New Hampshire University, the diversity of courses offered was really interesting. In this case, I enjoy learning accounting as my major. The skills acquired will enable me to work in public accountancy career upon graduation. In addition, the major credits will also allow me to get a placement in a reputable financial institution as an accounting intern. Ultimately, upon graduation I intend to apply the theories and practice skills learned in class on my career field.

In addition to core courses, student can select electives within an individual's area of interest. After thorough consultation with my career advisors and mentors, I decided to take up social science and computer related subjects. Specifically, I opted to use Operation Management, Human Relations in Administration and Business System Analysis and Design. Most institutions consider these fields as exploratory areas that are within my career path. Apart from the topics being relatively easy for an accounting major, they also provide additional credit and provide additional credit that is essential in improving academic qualifications. Additionally, the courses provided me with foundational skills in relevant areas such as understanding operation functions of major organization, conflict resolution and application of information system in finance that was paramount in the accounting career. In this regard, these skills have improved my social skills and interaction with students as well as my fellow workers. It has also enhanced my leadership skills and appropriate evaluation of human behavior.

Lectures on human relations in administration werevery memorable in terms of content and methodology of a study. In this regard, our professor S. Doyonwould create scenarios on the main issues of discussion. The teacher would bring forth inspiring ideas on the definition of leadership, as well as inspire us to evaluate other key issues such as group dynamics, motivation and communication. The professor also encouraged interactive discussions on issues regarding the understanding of stress and time management by giving students some creative presentation assignments. In my presentation, I did intensive research on the importance of high leadership skills, effective communication and appropriate organization structure and their contribution to improving the output from an organization.

Operation Management also had an inspiring impact since it provided me a clearer understanding of operation structuring and functions within an organization. The most memorable moment was in evaluation of the organization structure in which our professor explained to us the application of operation management in the United States military department and other sectors of the economy such as education and finance. As a result, students were able to appreciate cost control, material planning, system analysis, production and manufacturing systems, and production control. The methodology of the study was very interactive with support of mass media where students were supposed to make a brief documentary on the history of operation management. Interestingly the majority of the students made numerous presentationsmajor industrialists from the United States such as the success of Henry Ford.

Lastly, the Business System Analysis and Design was attractive since students had to understand system operation and the application of computer systems in solving financial problems within an organization. Additionally, I got information on contemporary issues affecting business information systems. The most memorable time was learning accounting packages such as QuickBooks as well as database management systems.
