You may not think you have a creative process, but you do. You've been solving problems your whole life. How do you come up with creative solutions from start to finish? Go to the web and research the topic "creative process" and "creative problem solving" to see some step-by-step processes that people use to solve problems.

How do you think through a creative challenge? See if any of the precesses you see during your research that you could adapt to fit your own personal technique for solving a problem.

What is a flow chart?

Flowcharts are made of two elements (besides text):

Nodes: Basically boxes that hold information.

Lines: Connectors between boxes that illustrate the flow of the process

Below is an example of a typical flow chart created in the software bubbl.us, which you will be using.

You diagram MUST:

Use the free, online software called bubbl.us to create your flow chart. There are video tutorials under the word "Help" in the menu at top. But, it's fairly simple.

You will export this diagram as a jpg. file (using the download arrow in the menu bar) and place it into your definitions document after the definitions.

It must be IN THE SAME FILE and it must be legible! You may have to resize it. It would help to make your diagram more vertical than horizontal in order to be as large as possible in the document. You will be marked down if we cannot read your flow chart.

Use at least ten of the words listed above. You may add your own IN ADDITION TO the ten words you've chosen from the list (like MUSIC, SOLITUDE, etc.)

Title each node (using either all CAPS or bold type) with a the word it represents followed by a very short description in the box.
Put your full name in it's own node at the top of your diagram

Your diagram must have the two components below incorporated into it:

1) Part of your diagram should be linear, meaning a step-by-step process that has a beginning and an end: Creative problem solving follows a progression with a start and a finish.

For example, the start might be research the problem. What is the first thing you do when faced with a challenging problem to solve? What's the outcome? What generally happens in between?

2) Another part of your diagram should be non-linear, meaning it isn't part of a step-by-step process because it happens throughout the process. There are things you do that don't occur in a certain order, they occur the whole time you're working out a solution. For example, "insight" is something you would have throughout the process.

The layout of your diagram might look like this. You will design your own.
