Tom and Max are talking about how Tom may get his chance one day and Tom says, "Not with this leg of mine." (127) The Escapist has a week leg like Sammy does, but later the Escapist overcomes this. I believe they made that a part of the story, because Sammy is trying to make his leg stronger and overcome it too. Also, I believe this quote is important, because most super heroes overcome some type of trial or trials before actually becoming a superhero and this is on of the Escapist's.
