This passage below talks about Veganism.

Veganism is the simplest solution to a morally justifiable diet. The conventional ways of farming animals for food involves inflicting severe cruelty on animals. We have well documented evidence that animals reared for their meat (such as chickens, pigs and castle) are inevitably subjected to brutalities in the processes of catching, transportation and slaughter, since the economics of meat production incentivise this behavior.

Even the mainstream practices employed in rearing cows for milk inflicts substantial psychological trauma on the cows, For example, cows are made pregnant annually since only cows that have recently given birth produce milk. In addition, the new born calves are separated from their mothers immediately after birth so that they do not drink the milk intended for human consumption.

Given all this, and, since we can obtain all the nutrients that we need from alternative plant-based sources, it is morally indefensible to eat animal based food. And, although my argument becomes weaker if due care is taken by the consumers to ensure that the animal-based food he is consuming has not involved inflicting cruelty on animals, the exercise of such care is considerably weaker.

In addition, Frances Moore Lappe, in his 1971 book, 'A Diet for a Small World', has shown us that a vegan diet leaves a much lower carbon footprint than animal-based diets, since modern industrial animal production involves inefficient usage of arable land. In this context, since our concerns about global warming are morally justifiable, then eating vegan food is, again, morally superior.
