When you perform a strategic management case analysis for a firm, you must find information about what the firm actually is doing and what the firm plans to do. Instructions:

  1. In this assignment, you will conduct research to determine the best strategies for The Walt Disney Company to employ in the next couple of years. Before you make any recommendations, you must research The Walt Disney Company, the industry itself and, of course, the competition. In addition to current practices, you must look for trends and movement.
  2. Research the Walt Disney Company (DIS) and VIACOM (VIA). Look for similarities and differences between The Walt Disney Company and this major competitor. Here is a list of excellent web sites that you may use for your research:

  • https://us.etrade.com/e/t/invest/markets (Links to an external site.)
  • www.finance.yahoo.com (Links to an external site.)
  • www.clearstation.com (Links to an external site.)
  • Next, research two or more recent articles about the strategies employed by firms in the entertainment/media industry. Here is a list of some of the best journals to find such corporate strategic information:
  • Advanced Management Journal
  • Business Horizons
  • Long Range Planning
  • Journal of Business Strategy
