The US and most of the western civilized world do not share the opinion of the right to bear arms. Most western nations have made the progression to the disarmament of civilian population. However, while mass shooting and gun murder rates have gone down, violence and violent crimes have not. In fact, violence is higher in states with stricter gun control laws. Murders are the highest in cities like Chicago. So what gives?

Your assignment is to write a 5 page double spaced paper on gun control and violence. Do gun control laws work? What has happened to violent crimes in European nations where guns are illegal? Could the same happen here in the United States, or are we an entirely different culture? Why are violent crimes more present in states or cities with tough gun control laws? Why does it not make sense? Would arming citizens help reduce crime instead of increasing it as members of conservative groups such as the NRA claim?
