The period after WWI was a time of incredible reshaping in Europe. New countries were formed, Turkey, Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union. Some countries fought off attempts to form a totalitarian government like France and the United Kingdom. Some countries like Italy and Germany succumbed to Fascist forms of totalitarianism, while the Soviet Union embraced Communism a form of totalitarianism on the opposite side of the political spectrum as Fascism.

This week write four paragraphs. Each paragraph should be about a what happened to that country in the inter war period, and how it affected its future. Choose one country from the newly formed countries, choose one of the social democracies (France or the UK), one of the Fascists (I recommend Germany), and the Soviet Union.
