The English writer D.H. Lawrence made some harsh comments about one of America's most beloved writers. He described Franklin as being so obsessed with the accumulation of wealth, that he lacked humanity, that he was, in fact a "dummy American." Even worse, he was a model for all those Americans who placed the making of wealth above any compassion for the less fortunate. Do you think Lawrence was right or wrong? Use evidence from Franklin's as evidence to support your position

Can you apply Lawrence's argument to the 2012 presidential election? Is that demonized 1% modeled after Franklin? (You may want to consider some rich people like Bill Gates).
